🪔 About
Dr. Ramya Suresh is a distinguished Bharatanatyam dancer who seamlessly balances her artistic pursuits with her profession as a medical doctor. Her journey in Bharatanatyam began at the tender age of four in Dubai, where she received her initial formal training under the guidance of Smt. Deepa Ganesh and Smt. Annapurna Murali. She subsequently underwent intensive and meticulous training, refining her understanding of the art form's intricate nuances under the esteemed Guru (Late) Nagamani Srinivasa Rao. Her arangetram, marking her debut performance, took place when she was just eight years old. Dr. Suresh continues to nurture her passion for Bharatanatyam, benefiting from ongoing guidance from Guru B Bhanumati and Smt. Sheela Chandrasekhar in Bangalore, and is also mentored by the renowned Smt. Indira Kadambi. Academically, Dr. Suresh holds a "Visharad" degree in Bharatanatyam, awarded by the Akhila Bharatiya Gandharv Mahavidyalaya. Her artistic merit has been recognized with a prestigious scholarship for Young Artistes from the CCRT, Ministry of Culture, Government of India. She has graced numerous stages across India, delivering captivating performances that highlight her profound understanding and execution of Bharatanatyam. In 2018, her talent was acknowledged with the Best Performer Award from the Parthasarathy Swami Sabha in Chennai during their annual Dance festival. A significant milestone in her career includes the conceptualization and choreography of a solo dance production titled "Athigiri Mahatmiyam," which was successfully staged in October 2019 as part of the 752nd birth anniversary celebrations of Swami Vedanta Desikan in Srirangam. She also featured in the 'Ilamayil Thiramai' Dance Series 2020, organized by the Krishna Gana Sabha in Chennai. Dr. Ramya Suresh is widely acclaimed for her graceful stage presence and her enthralling command over all three facets of Bharatanatyam: Nritta (pure dance), Nritya (expressive dance), and Abhinaya (facial expressions and emotional portrayal). A review in The Hindu in March 2023 praised her performance at the Brahma Gana Sabha's Margazhi dance festival, noting her precise movements and apt expressions in a presentation themed on Krishna. She primarily operates from India, with strong ties to the cultural hubs of Bangalore and Chennai. Awards & Honours: CCRT, Ministry of Culture scholarship for Young Artiste, Best Performer Award (2018).
