Soujanya Madhusudan is a distinguished Bharatanatyam dancer, teacher, and choreographer, recognized for her adherence to tradition while exploring creativity within the classical form. She practices the Kalakshetra bani of Bharatanatyam. Initiated into the art form at the tender age of three, Soujanya received extensive training from prominent gurus including Smt. Sumana Nagesh (Director, Natyashree), Guru Nagamani Srinivasa Rao, Padmashree Adyar K Lakshman, Sri Balagopal, and Smt. Kalanidhi Narayanan. She serves as the Artistic Director of Bharatha Darshana, a premiere classical performing arts school founded in Chennai, India, in 1988 by her mother-in-law, Guru Smt. Nagamani Srinivasa Rao. Soujanya Madhusudan established the USA branch of Bharatha Darshana, which operates in Cumming, Georgia, and Houston and Pearland, Texas, and also offers online classes to students across the USA, UK, India, New Zealand, and the Middle East. Soujanya Madhusudan's performances have graced stages globally, including dance and music festivals organized by ICCR, Ponniah dance festival, Cleveland Tyagaraja Aradhana, and SPICMACAY, among others. She has also presented lecture demonstrations at various universities such as Drexel, Rice, Texas A&M, and Penn State. In recognition of her professional contributions to preserving, nurturing, and promoting Indian Classical dance, she was honored with the 'Bharatha Muni award' by The Karnataka Nritya Kala Parishat on January 26, 2020. She is also a member of CID (Internationale council de dance) UNESCO and a brand ambassador for Hidden Idol. Her husband, Sri Madhusudan Rao, is a gifted musician and percussionist.
