Sridevi Jagannath is a highly proficient Bharatanatyam dancer, teacher, and choreographer, recognized for her contributions to Indian classical dance in the United States and internationally. She received her training from esteemed Gurus including Padmini Ravi and K.J. Sarasa, and further honed her skills under the guidance of Late Guru Smt. Bhanumathi, Guru Smt. Lalitha Srinivasan (Mysore Style), Natyacharya Smt. Shobana Balachandra, and Padmini Ravi. Having performed for over three decades, Sridevi Jagannath established the Laasya School of Dance and Music in Durham, North Carolina, USA, in 1995. The school celebrated its quarter-century milestone in 2020. As the director of Laasya School, Sridevi Jagannath has been instrumental in grooming numerous students in Bharatanatyam, with over 50 students completing their Arangetrams under her tutelage. Many of her graduates have gone on to become teachers themselves. She is known for her emphasis on learning fundamentals, theory, and conducting workshops, often inviting guest artists to enrich her students' learning experience. Sridevi Jagannath has performed extensively across the U.S., Canada, Australia, and India, presenting various dance productions such as "Krishna Bhakti Mala," "Let Go," "Ananya," "MUDRA – The mark of an indelible woman," "Dashavataram," and "Samatva – a project addressing the stigma surrounding mental health". She also co-founded "Srishti – The Creation," an informal group of dancers promoting the art form. She currently serves on the Examination Board of The Griffin College, London, and Pracheena Kala Kendra, and is learning Sattriya, the eighth classical dance form.
