Srijani Bhaswa Mahanta is an Indian classical dancer specializing in Sattriya, an ancient dance form from Assam. She began her formal training in Sattriya dance at the age of six, studying under the tutelage of Padma Shri awardee Guru Ghanakantha Bora Borbayen. Mahanta is also a trained musician. Her career includes performing solo Sattriya dance recitals, such as "Srijani'r Nritya Arghya" in Guwahati in 2007. She has also presented lecture-demonstrations, including "Thinking Body Dancing Mind" at institutions like Ashoka University and Jawaharlal Nehru University, exploring the parallels between language and dance. Beyond her artistic pursuits, Srijani Bhaswa Mahanta has a strong academic background, holding a Political Science Honours degree from Lady Shriram College and pursuing a Master's in Political Science at Jawaharlal Nehru University. She has expressed an aspiration to join the Civil Services to better serve her community and homeland, Assam. Additionally, she has experience as an assistant director for a documentary film. Mahanta is dedicated to raising awareness about Sattriya dance, which she considers a source of pride for Assamese culture.
