Srijita Sanyal is an accomplished Indian classical Odissi dancer, recognized for her expressive performances and dedication to the art form. She is a senior disciple of Guru Sharmila Mukerjee, a recipient of the Karnataka Kalashree award. Sanyal's foundational training in Odissi began in Kolkata, where she had the privilege of studying under esteemed gurus Aloka Kanungo and Muralidhar Majhi during her formative years. Her career as a performing artist has seen her grace various prominent dance festivals across India, showcasing a repertoire that includes significant choreographies by legendary figures. She regularly performs iconic pieces by Padma Vibhushan Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra, such as Bilahari Pallavi, Ardhanarishwara Stotram, and Ashtapadi from Geet Govind. Additionally, Sanyal presents choreographies by her current guru, Sharmila Mukerjee, including Vrindavani Sarang Pallavi, Ahir Bhairav Pallavi, and Visarini. Her artistry has been officially acknowledged with a 'B' Grade by Doordarshan Bengaluru in 2024, and she has also been upgraded to a 'B High' grade by Doordarshan for Odissi. Beyond her contributions to Indian classical dance, Srijita Sanyal also maintains a professional career in finance, holding an MBA from the Zicklin School of Business, New York, and a degree from SNDT Women's University Mumbai, India. She is an active performer, frequently appearing in Bengaluru and other cities, often in association with the Sanjali Centre for Odissi Dance.
