Srinidhi Raghavan is a celebrated Bharatanatyam performer, choreographer, and producer, known for her innovative approach to traditional Indian classical dance. Born in Chennai, India, she began her Bharatanatyam training at the tender age of five under the tutelage of her mother and guru, Usha Raghavan, and guru Malathy Thothadri. Her arangetram, or debut performance, took place in Chennai in 1998. Raghavan's dance lineage is deeply rooted in her family, as her mother and aunt co-founded the performing arts institute Kalasagara in Chennai in 1972, which has since trained thousands of students globally. Srinidhi Raghavan is an alumna of Columbia University and holds an MBA from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. While maintaining a career as an Investment Banker in New York City, she continues to actively pursue her passion for Bharatanatyam, performing and choreographing internationally. Her performances have graced stages across numerous countries, including the United Kingdom, Switzerland, France, Italy, Liechtenstein, Barbados, Canada, the United States, and India, notably during Chennai's prestigious December festival. Raghavan is recognized for her "precise nritta and apt abhinaya" by critics like The Hindu, and for her ability to infuse contemporary themes into traditional Bharatanatyam pieces. Her notable choreographic works include "Her Story," a dance duet co-created with Sahasra Sambamoorthi in 2008, which explored unconditional love and embarked on a nine-city global tour in 2009. Her solo Bharatanatyam production, "Voices," premiered in London in 2016. She also collaborated with Navatman Dance on "The Mirror," a Bharatanatyam-based web series addressing social issues such as mental health, gender bias, and displacement. In 2023, she conceptualized and performed "Samkhya," a thematic Bharatanatyam piece exploring male and female perceptions, at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. Beyond performing, Srinidhi Raghavan contributes to the arts community as a co-curator of The Varnam Salon in New York City and serves on the curatorial board of the Indo American Arts Council's Erasing Borders Festival. She also led the South Asian dance troupe "Taal" as president during her time at Columbia University. She is scheduled to perform at Aalaap Concepts' Diaspora Dance Festival in Chennai in December 2026.
