Srivani Vokkarane

Srivani Vokkarane is an accomplished Indian classical dancer, trained in both Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi, with close to three decades of dedication to the art forms. She also possesses training in Carnatic Vocal and is currently learning Carnatic Veena. Her Bharatanatyam training includes initial instruction under Guru Ramakrishna, Guru Rohini Prabhunandan, and Guru Kalavathy Avadhoot, culminating in the completion of proficiency level (Vidwath) Board exams from Karnataka under Guru Premakumari in the Pandanallur style. For Kuchipudi, Srivani was fortunate to be trained by esteemed proponents such as Guru Vyjayanthi Kashi, Guru Veena Murthy Vijay, and Guru Vedantam Venkatanagachalapathi Rao. Furthering her academic pursuit, she earned a Master of Arts in Kuchipudi Dance from Silicon Andhra University, California. Srivani Vokkarane is the founder and artistic director of Kaivalya Arts, an organization committed to preserving and promoting South Indian art forms in the United States. She also established the 'Sriranga Dance Academy' to instruct young aspirants. Having moved to the United States two decades ago, she actively performs at various community events and is keen on spreading the art through the 'Guru-Shishya' Parampara (teacher-disciple tradition). Her performances include a Kuchipudi solo presentation titled 'Tulasi' in Naperville, IL, and participation in 'Dancing Tales from India' in Greater Chicago alongside Vyjayanthi and Prateeksha Kashi. She has also contributed to the understanding of Kuchipudi through her writing, submitting an article titled "From Village Roots to Global Stages" on the enduring legacy of the dance form.
