Subhadip Sarkar commenced his journey in Indian classical dance at the age of 10 with Bharatanatyam. Hailing from a middle-class family in Bengal, he later dedicated himself to the Manipuri dance form. He received comprehensive training in both the theoretical and practical aspects of Manipuri under the guidance of Guru Hemant Kumar Yakum. His artistic development was further enriched by his interactions with eminent Manipuri gurus such as Srimati Kalavati Devi and Srimati Devjani. Academically, Sarkar holds a B.A. and M.A. from Visva-Bharati University in West Bengal and has also completed an M.Phil. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Manipuri dance at Rabindra Bharati University under the mentorship of Dr. Poushali Chatterjee, a renowned Manipuri dancer and scholar. He has been recognized for his contributions with the Anupama Award from the Governor of West Bengal. Subhadip Sarkar is an active performer and researcher in the field of Manipuri dance.
