Sudakshina Mukherjee is an accomplished Indian classical dancer and educator, primarily known for her expertise in Bharatanatyam. Born in Kolkata, West Bengal, India, she began her dance journey at the age of four. Her extensive training in Bharatanatyam encompasses both the Kalakshetra and Pandanallur styles, under the tutelage of distinguished Gurus Keka Chatterjee, Abhay Pal, Kohinoor Sen Barat, and Uma Tillak. She has also trained under Rama Vaidyanathan. Mukherjee has expanded her classical repertoire by studying Mohiniattam under Guru Nirmala Paniker and Navarasa Sadhana under Guru Sri Venu G. In 2010, Sudakshina Mukherjee moved to Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Driven by a desire to connect her daughter with Indian classical dance and to spread the art form, she founded the Atlanta Nritya Academy. Starting in her garage with just a few students, the academy has grown into a nationally recognized institution with a stand-alone studio in Cumming, Georgia. As the Artistic Director and Choreographer, she teaches Bharatanatyam, Rabindra Nritya, and Indian Contemporary dance to students of all ages. Under her leadership, the Atlanta Nritya Academy has achieved significant recognition, including being semi-finalists twice on Zee TV's "Dance USA Dance," winning first place in the "Dance Fever" competition, and clinching the Best Choreography Award at "Dance USA Dance." She is regarded as a revered figure in the world of dance, dedicated to preserving and promoting India's rich cultural art forms.
