Sudip Kumar Ghosh is a highly accomplished Indian classical Manipuri dance artist and cultural leader, born in Algapur, Tripura. He independently pursued his passion for dance, moving to Kolkata in 2003 and Delhi from 2009 to 2012 to further his training under esteemed gurus. Ghosh received extensive training in classical Manipuri dance under the Guru Shishya tradition from Guru Th. Chourajeet Singh, the son of Padma Shri Guru Th. Babu Singh and Smt. N. Amusana Devi, at the Jawaharlal Nehru Manipuri Dance Academy. He also trained under Oja P. Dhanajit Singh and Oja I. Nalani Devi from the same academy. Beyond Manipuri, he trained in Kathak dance under Madhumita Roy and Padmashri Rani Karnna, and in creative dance under Guru Amala Shankar, as well as Indian folk and contemporary dance at Suffer Dance Academy. Sudip Kumar Ghosh is a Graded Artist at Doordarshan Kendra, Kolkata. He has made significant contributions to the promotion and preservation of Indian classical dance, organizing numerous workshops and festivals, and performing in over 500 programs to make dance accessible to a wider audience. As the Secretary of Katchaba, a forum dedicated to Manipuri art and culture, he continues to lead initiatives that enrich the cultural landscape. His choreographic works include “Mahishashurmardini” for Frontier TV, “MeriMaa,” and “Monerporosehiya” (Manipuri and Mohiniyattam). He has also successfully conducted annual dance festivals such as the Banshi National Dance Festival, Padmashri Guru Th. Babu Singh National Dance Festival, and the Katchaba (Samarpan) International Manipuri Dance Festival in Imphal.
