Sutikshna Veeravalli is a distinguished Indian classical dancer specializing in Bharatanatyam and an accomplished Carnatic vocalist, based in Boston, USA. She commenced her artistic journey at the age of four, dedicating over two decades to the pursuit of these performing arts. Veeravalli received her Bharatanatyam training from her mother, Guru Vanitha Veeravalli, who directs the Bharatam Academy of Dance Arts in Naperville, Chicago. Her Carnatic vocal tutelage was under the esteemed Kalaimamani Dr. R. Suryaprakash. Veeravalli performed her Bharatanatyam arangetram in 2009. She is a regular performer in Chennai and across North America, having notably participated in the Madras Music Academy's Spirit of Youth and HCL Series. Her performances include venues such as Sri Ranjani Sabha and Vani Mahal in Chennai, and the Bharatam Academy of Dance Art's Arangam Series in Illinois. A talented composer, she created a Thillana at the age of 14, which she subsequently performed at her arangetram, and has also composed music for Bharatanatyam productions. Sutikshna Veeravalli has garnered numerous accolades, including the "Yuva Kala Vipanchee" title for excellence in Indian Classical Music and Dance from Vipanchee, an organization founded by Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna. She has also received the "Special Commendation Award" from Bharat Kalachar, "Promising Young Artiste" from Brahma Gana Sabha, and "Kala Ratna" from the Cleveland Thyagaraja Festival. In 2011, she was a finalist in the Carnatic Music Idol USA and has won several Carnatic music competitions, including those at Cleveland Aradhana and Chicago Tyagaraja Utsavam. Beyond her performing career, Veeravalli works full-time as a high school educator for students with learning disabilities in Brookline, MA, aiming to integrate arts with education to foster more inclusive communities. She was born physically differently abled, a factor that has shaped her unique perspective on dance and inclusion.
