Sweekruti Das is an emerging Indian classical Odissi dancer, known for her dedication and passion for the art form. Her journey in Odissi began in 2016, and she is currently furthering her expertise by pursuing a Bachelor of Performing Art in Odissi Dance. Sweekruti has honed her skills under the guidance of Guru Sohini Biswas, receiving five years of rigorous training as of September 2023. Additionally, she is recognized as a student and performing artist at the esteemed Gunjan Dance Academy. This academy, founded in 1995 and led by Smt. Meera Das, is dedicated to preserving and promoting the classical and traditional heritage of Odissi dance, with training facilities located in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, India. Das has actively participated in numerous dance competitions and festivals, including events in Kolkata, showcasing her talent on various platforms. Her performances have garnered significant recognition, leading to several awards in both national and international arenas. In 2019, she was honored with the Chairman's award for securing the 4th position in the Global Odissi competition. The subsequent year, 2020, marked a significant achievement as she secured the 3rd position in Odissi Dance in both All India and Global competitions, also earning a gold medal for her exceptional performance. A highlight of her performing career includes her presentation of "Shiva Panchakhyara" at the International Odissi Dance Festival in 2023, a performance documented by the Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Odissi Research Centre. Sweekruti Das is an ardent Indian classical dance aspirant, driven by a desire to share and propagate the profound beauty of classical Indian culture and its artistic expressions globally. She has expressed a lifelong love and passion for dancing, aspiring to be a dancer and choreographer, and has also trained in other dance forms such as Bollywood, Contemporary, Bharatnatyam, Kathak, and Rabindra-nritya, though her primary focus is Odissi.
