Tanmoyee Chakraborty is an accomplished Indian classical Kathak dancer, performer, and teacher, recognized for her crisp clarity in movement and rhythmic patterns. She is a disciple of her mother and Guru, Keya Chanda, who is associated with the Benares gharana. Chakraborty holds a first-class first graduate degree in Dance from Rabindra Bharati University and a first-class Master's degree in the same discipline from Indira Kala Sangit Vishwavidyalaya. Her dedication to Kathak has earned her significant accolades, including a Gold Medal from the International Cultural Olympiad held in Malaysia, Singapore, and Bangkok. She has also been honored with the title of "NrityaSree" from the International Stage of Performing Arts and is an Empanelled Artist with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). Furthermore, she is a recipient of both Junior and Senior National Scholarships from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. Tanmoyee Chakraborty is the artistic director of Toyee Dance Troupe and also mentors students at Makhla Shinjini, a dance school in Uttarpara, near Kolkata, where she teaches Kathak, folk, and semi-classical dance forms. She is known for reviving rare Kathak items, such as dancing on the rim of a brass plate, a technique she learned from her Guru, Keya Chanda. Chakraborty has performed at various prestigious events, including the IIC's Monsoon Festival and Ghat Sandhya in Benaras, showcasing her versatility in different taals like Dhamar, Teentaal, and Ektaal.
