Vaishali Ramachandran is a distinguished Bharatanatyam dancer, teacher, and the Founder and Artistic Director of Dayananda Kalalayam, based in Fremont, California, USA. Her profound journey in Bharatanatyam commenced at the tender age of four in Mumbai, India. She initially trained under Guru Smt. Geeta Vekateshwar at Bharatanatya Kalalaya, Mumbai. Later, she moved to Bangalore, where she dedicated 16 years to assimilating the Thanjavoor style of Bharatanatyam under the tutelage of Guru Dr. Padmaja Suresh at the Aatmalaya Academy of Dance. Vaishali performed her Arangetram (Rangapravesha) in 2006, marking her official debut. Since then, she has actively participated in numerous productions, solo performances, and has been teaching the art form. Her performances, characterized by fluid grace, neat Nritta (pure dance), and mature Abhinaya (expressive dance), have garnered significant appreciation from both media and audiences in major dance festivals across India, Europe, and the USA. She is also a company dancer and Production Coordinator at the esteemed Abhinaya Dance Company of San José since 2019. In 2015, Vaishali founded Dayananda Kalalayam, a Bharatanatyam school inspired by the teachings of Pujya Swami Dayananda Saraswati. The academy aims to nurture a love for Bharatanatyam, fostering commitment, creativity, and cultural pride among students of all ages. She offers personalized instruction and private classes, and the academy organizes annual productions like Natyodaya, Guru Samarpana, and Pravardhana. Vaishali is also advancing her training in Nattuvangam under Sri D. V. Prasanna Kumar and is pursuing a Master's Degree in Bharatanatyam. She has also initiated and organized "Yuva Kala Kutcheri," a platform for young dancers and musicians to collaborate and grow. Vaishali has also performed with her daughter, Stavyaa.
