🪔 About

Vedantam Satya Narasimha Sastry, born in 1982, is a distinguished figure in Indian classical dance, particularly renowned for his contributions to Kuchipudi. Hailing from a traditional Kuchipudi family, he is the eldest son of the esteemed Kuchipudi maestro, Sri Vedantam Radheshyam. Sastry began his dance training under the tutelage of his illustrious father, further refining his skills under the guidance of Padma Bhushan Sri Vempati Chinna Satyam and Vedantam Rattiaya Sarma. Academically accomplished, Sastry holds a Diploma, Certificate, and Post Graduate Diploma in Kuchipudi Dance and Yakshaganam from Potti Sri Ramulu Telugu University, Hyderabad. He also earned a Bachelor's degree in Telugu (Oriental Bachelor of Arts) and completed a certificate course in Mridangam. Beyond dance, he is proficient in Carnatic Vocal Music, having learned from Sri Sistu Prabhakara Krishna Sastry, and in Mridangam, under Sri P. Satyanarayana. His expertise also extends to Nattuvangam. A child prodigy, Sastry commenced performing from a young age, having presented over 1000 dance programs across India and internationally. He started choreographing at the tender age of 13, creating numerous ballets in the traditional Kuchipudi Yakshagana style, including notable works like "ParvathiParinayam," "RutuSamharam," and "Sri Padmavai Venkateswara Parinayam." He has also graced many ballets with impressive roles such as Prahlada, Hiranyakasipa, Shiva, and Krishna. Sastry began imparting training in Kuchipudi dance at the age of 17. He founded the "Vedantam Kuchipudi Art Academy" and has trained approximately 200 students, many of whom have received prestigious accolades like the Balasree and Balaratna awards, and CCRT scholarships. He currently serves as the General Secretary of Akhila Bharata Kuchipudi Natya Kala Mandali, Kuchipudi. His contributions to the art form were recognized with the Ugadi Puraskar as the Best Youth Classical Dancer by the Government of Andhra Pradesh in 2007, and the title 'Natya Visharadha' by Kalanjali Samstha. He also participated in the "International Kuchipudi Convention" in California in 2008. Awards & Honours: Ugadi Puraskar (Best Youth Classical Dancer) (2007), Natya Visharadha.
