Vedanti Bhagwat is a prominent Indian classical Kathak dancer, choreographer, and educator based in Pune, Maharashtra, India. Born in Akola, Maharashtra, she embarked on her Kathak journey at a young age, dedicating 6-7 years to intensive training before relocating to Pune to further her studies under the tutelage of Mrs. Archana Sunjay. Bhagwat has proficiently learned both the Lucknow and Jaipur gharanas of Kathak, and her performances are noted for their elegant blend of the delicacy characteristic of the Lucknow style with the strong footwork of the Jaipur tradition. As a multifaceted artist, Vedanti Bhagwat excels as a solo performer, a creative choreographer, and a dedicated tutor. She is a co-founder, choreographer, and trainer at the Layom Institute of Arts and Media in Pune, an institution committed to the preservation and promotion of Kathak. Additionally, she oversees a branch of the Madhurita Sarang School of Kathak in Pune. Her choreographic repertoire is diverse, encompassing Indian folk dances, classical Kathak, and Western dance forms. Notably, she choreographed for the Marathi film "Houde Thodasa Ushir" in 2012. Her original productions, such as "Colours of Kathak" and "Rukmini Swayamvar," have garnered attention, with "Colours of Kathak" being featured in three episodes on the UGC channel. Vedanti Bhagwat has represented India on international platforms, including the SAARC Summit in Dhaka, Bangladesh (2007), and Chennai (2008). She has performed extensively at various esteemed festivals and events across India, such as the India International Dance Festival (2020), Raja Paranjape Smriti Mahotsaw, and the Mt. Abu Festival. Committed to nurturing the next generation of dancers, Bhagwat actively works to familiarize them with the rich traditions of Kathak through her performances and her institute. She has also received several accolades in dance competitions, including prizes at the Kiran Sangeet Samaroh, Mood Indigo Festival, and Sharda Sangeet Vidyalaya.
