🪔 About

Vidyalakshmi Vinod is a highly accomplished Bharatanatyam dancer, dedicated teacher, and an excellent choreographer based in the greater Seattle area, Washington, USA. She is a senior disciple of the esteemed Padmashri Chitra Visweswaran, a renowned doyen in the field of Bharatanatyam. Driven by her passion for this ancient art form, Vidyalakshmi founded the Nrityalaya School of Dance in Redmond, Washington, in 2002. The school's mission is to impart quality training and preserve the rich heritage of Bharatanatyam for future generations. Under her artistic direction, Nrityalaya has grown significantly, teaching over 140 students across two locations in Redmond and Bothell, WA, as of 2015. Vidyalakshmi has choreographed numerous dance pieces, including traditional items like Mallari, Varnams, and Thillanas, for her graduate students. Her presentation of dance technique is noted as a great inspiration to dancers and students. She has also conceptualized, choreographed, and directed three successful dance ballets in the greater Seattle Area: 'Shree Matre Namaha' (2010), 'Dharmo Rakshathi Rakshitaha' (June 2012), and 'Pancha Mahabhutham' (2014), all of which were well-received by audiences. Many of her students have completed their Arangetram, a significant graduation ceremony in Bharatanatyam, after rigorous training under her guidance.
