Dr. Vyshnavie Sainath is an acclaimed Indian classical dancer, choreographer, and educator, recognized as one of the finest exponents of classical Indian dance in her generation. Born around 1990, she began her Bharatanatyam training at the age of three and decided to pursue a career in dance at 14. She is a disciple of her mother, the renowned Bharatanatyam exponent Dr. Rajeshwari Sainath. Vyshnavie holds a Masters in Bharatanatyam from Madras University and is a PhD scholar in dance, having researched Globalization and its influences. Her extensive repertoire spans Bharatanatyam, Odissi, Kuchipudi, Simhanandini, and Contemporary Western dance. A unique aspect of her artistry is the integration of Yoga and the martial art Kalaripayattu into her classical framework, creating dynamic and powerful presentations. She has also trained in movement media at the Attakalari Centre for Movement of Arts and completed a six-week workshop in contemporary dance at the Martha Graham School in New York. Dr. Sainath is the Director of the Vyshnavie Natya Centre (VNC) in Hyderabad, India, which she founded around 2011. The center provides rigorous training in Bharatanatyam and other classical and contemporary forms, emphasizing holistic development through the integration of Yoga and martial arts. She is an empaneled artist of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and a Grade “A” artist of Doordarshan. Her performances have graced prestigious venues and international festivals across India, Australia, London, Sweden, USA, Germany, and Canada. She has also collaborated with artists like legendary Brij Maharaj and Guru Karaikudi Mani.
