Yamini Muthanna is a distinguished Indian classical dancer, teacher, and choreographer specializing in Bharatanatyam, and a revered Yoga Acharya. She has been actively performing for over four decades, establishing herself as a prominent figure in Indian classical arts. Yamini received her Bharatanatyam training under the tutelage of Dr. Vasundhara Doraswamy. Concurrently, she is an ardent practitioner of Ashtanga Yoga, having commenced her practice in 1986 under the guidance of Yoga Visharadha Sri BNS Iyengar, with whom she studied Yoga from 1986 to 1997. As an accomplished artist, Yamini Muthanna is a "Top Graded" artist at Doordarshan, India's National TV channel, and an empanelled artist with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. In this capacity, she has traveled globally as a Cultural Ambassador, presenting Bharatanatyam recitals and conducting workshops in countries including the USA, UK, Fiji, Malaysia, Australia, Netherlands, and Sweden. Her choreographic works are noted for their blend of traditional Bharatanatyam with elements of Yoga and Kalaripayattu, often drawing inspiration from ancient scriptures like the Yoga Sutras and Bhagavad Gita. Yamini Muthanna is the Artistic Director of "Kalasinchanam Yogasthala Ancient Arts Trust" (KYAAT), an institution she founded in 2001 in Indiranagar, Bengaluru. This center serves as a hub for learning Bharatanatyam and traditional Hatha Yoga, attracting students from across the globe. She is also a prolific author, with her book "The Power of Yoga" becoming an international bestseller, translated into multiple languages, and receiving an award for best design from the Indian Books Federation. Her second book, "Children's Yoga Step-by-Step," was launched in 2022. Furthermore, Yamini has scripted and directed 26 episodes of "Yoga Abhyas" for Doordarshan and features as a yoga instructor on Tatasky Active Fitness and Disney Hotstar.
