The Gangani family has a centuries-old legacy of serving the art of Kathak, with every member traditionally possessing competence in playing percussion instruments like tabla and pakhawaj, and performing Kathak dance, even if not as their primary expertise. This strong foundation in both rhythm and movement is a hallmark of their gharana, which prides itself on its sure-footedness around taal. Yogesh Gangani is widely regarded as one of India's most sought-after percussionists, frequently in demand by leading Kathak dancers.
