First student of Mizhavu department — Became the first student when a separate department for mizhavu was instituted under Guru P.K. Narayanan Nambiar at Kalamandalam.

Began accompanying Guru Ammanur Madhava Chakyar — Associated with Guru Ammanur Madhava Chakyar for performances and learning in gurukula style.
