In 1992 Olena Ryzhei founded the club of Indian dance “Saraswati” in Kiev later Saraswati Indian dance school. The objects of our school are promoting and assisting development of Indian culture in Ukraine; deliver lectures and holding master-classes by specialists all over Ukraine. And we also had create material basement to held Festivals on Indian Dance, organize the concerts of out standing dancers in Ukraine. The dances of the “Saraswati” school bring a precious gift of ancient India to Ukrainian spectator and introduce large auditory of Ukrainian spectators to the fairy misteries. Indian citizens who reside in Ukraine visit evenings by Saraswati, where consider themselves at home. They had Indian classical and folk dance classes; took part in Indian holidays celebrations organized by Embassy of India in Ukraine, Ukraine-India Association and hold socials-meetings with Indian and Ukrainian counterparts, etc. The are more then 35 students studing in the school same time from age 5 and to 55 in Kiev city. The school is open for everyone who want to know more about Indian dance heritage. The classes are taking by 2 permanent teachers 3 times a week. The Saraswati has also founded audio-, videoteck and library on Indian arts, which cooperates with our organization can have access to this information. And also have a very rich collection of different Indian dance costumes and ornaments. Indian dance is a perfect and techically complicated art. It’s performing requires complicated, accurate, thorough and laborious work for many years. For the last 20 years Saraswati could achieve quite high level in preparation, where it can easily perform various kinds of dance – from classical to folk ones. Numerous victories at All-Ukraine Dance Festivals is evidence of high artistic level of performance.
