Alka Lajmi is a distinguished figure in Indian classical dance, specializing in Bharatanatyam. She holds an M.A. in Bharatanatyam from the University of Pune and has been conferred with the degree of Sangeetacharya from Gandharva Mahavidyalaya. Lajmi received her Bharatanatyam training under the tutelage of Smt. Smita Mahajan and Dr. Sucheta Chapekar. With over three decades of experience, she has been actively performing and teaching the art form. Alka Lajmi heads the Indian Classical dance faculty at the Kalangan Centre For Performing Arts. She has choreographed numerous theme-based dance presentations, including notable works such as Priye Charusheele, Shiva Shakti, Rasa Drishti, Krishnanubandha, Bhakti Ranga, and Abhanga Gatha. Her contributions to the field also include training students for Visharad and Alankar examinations, with many successfully completing their courses. She has participated in prestigious festivals like Ram Marathe Smruti Samaroh, National Centre for Performing Arts, and Natyanjali festival. Awards & Honours: Singarmani.
