Amrita Shil is a distinguished Indian classical Kuchipudi dancer and a devoted disciple of the late Padmashri Dr. Sobha Naidu. Her intensive training in Kuchipudi spanned twelve years at the “SRINIVASA KUCHIPUDI ART ACADEMY” under Dr. Naidu's tutelage, where she honed her strong footwork, swift movements, and precise postures, embodying the grace and flexibility characteristic of the dance form. Dr. Sobha Naidu, herself a student of the legendary Guru Vempati Chinna Satyam, significantly influenced Amrita's expressive Kuchipudi style, which emphasizes abhinaya and intricate footwork. Amrita also holds an M.P.A (Master of Performing Arts) in Kuchipudi Dance from Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University, Hyderabad (2016), and graduated with first-class honors in Dance from Rabindra Bharti University, Kolkata (2014). Throughout her career, Amrita Shil has performed extensively across India for over fifteen years, captivating audiences with her precision and grace. Notable performances include the Margazhi festival in Chennai, Vrishanka Dance festival in Hyderabad, Nadaneerajanam in Tirumala with her guru, and a temple performance at Guruvayur in Kerala. She has also graced prestigious stages such as the Deshpande Maharashtra Kala Academy in Mumbai, the Silicon Andhra International Kuchipudi Dance Conventions, and the Konark Festival in Odisha. Amrita is the Artistic Director of Kuchipudi Kalamrita, her academy in Hyderabad, where she is dedicated to spreading her knowledge and skills. She actively teaches Kuchipudi, conducting workshops and lecture demonstrations at various esteemed institutions, and aspires to establish a larger academy for future generations of dancers. Amrita Shil has received several accolades for her contributions to Kuchipudi. These include the “EXCELLENCE IN TEACHING” award (2016), the NATIONAL NRITYA SHIROMANI AWARD (2016), the NRUTYA JYOTI PURASKAR (2015), and a NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP from the Ministry of Culture (2012-2013). She was also honored with the title Natya Mayuri (2019) and the Sabaranjani award (2019).
