Amruta Khanvilkar is a prominent Indian actress and producer, widely recognized for her work in Marathi and Hindi cinema. Born on November 23, 1984, in Mumbai and raised in Pune, she developed a passion for dance from a young age. While she initially gained fame for her acting career, starting as a contestant on India's Best Cinestars Ki Khoj in 2004, and for her captivating Lavani dance performances in films like "Natarang," her journey into formal classical dance training began later in life. Despite her established acting career, Khanvilkar pursued her childhood dream of learning Kathak. She began her formal training in Kathak at the age of 38 and completed her arangetram in 2023, an achievement she considers deeply personal. She trained in Kathak with Manjiri Deo. Khanvilkar has since integrated her classical training into her performances, notably co-producing and performing in "World of Stree," a 90-minute semi-classical dance musical that includes Kathak elements and celebrates womanhood. She is also slated to perform in "Sundari," a dance musical featuring a fusion of Kathak and Lavani. Her dedication to classical dance, even after achieving success in mainstream cinema, highlights her commitment to the art form.
