Anisha Ahuja is an emerging figure in Indian classical Kathak dance, currently serving as a Lead Student Teacher at the Nrityanvita Kathak Academy. She has been associated with the academy for a decade, actively contributing to its activities and artistic endeavors. In 2023, she formally began providing teaching support, and she independently conducts Kathak classes in Pasadena under the aegis of the Academy. Beyond her teaching responsibilities, Anisha is also an active member of the Nrityanvita Kathak Academy's dance troupe, showcasing her performance skills. Academically, Anisha Ahuja is a dedicated scholar. She is a PhD candidate and an adjunct professor based in Los Angeles. Her academic pursuits are deeply intertwined with her passion for dance, as she is currently engaged in writing her dissertation on the intricate history of dance in North India. This research endeavor highlights her commitment to both the practical and theoretical aspects of Kathak. Anisha's training in Kathak is under the guidance of Anvita Sharma, the Artistic Director and founder of Nrityanvita Kathak Academy. Anvita Sharma herself is a highly experienced Kathak exponent, having trained for over 25 years and being a direct disciple of esteemed gurus Rachana Upadhyay and Smt. Durga Arya. This lineage connects Anisha Ahuja to a rich tradition of Kathak, emphasizing the guru-shishya parampara (teacher-disciple tradition) within her artistic development.
