Anita Pai is a dedicated Kathak dancer and teacher associated with the Chitresh Das Institute (CDI) in the San Francisco Bay Area, USA. She commenced her Kathak training in 2004 under the tutelage of the esteemed Kathak master and guru, Pandit Chitresh Das. Demonstrating a strong commitment to the art form, Pai began her teaching career in 2007, instructing students of all ages and skill levels, from beginners to advanced practitioners. Throughout her career, Anita Pai has been an active performer, participating in numerous school show productions by Pandit Das and various dance and community events across the Bay Area. She plays a crucial role in preparing eligible students for auditions for the CDI Youth Company and for performances in school shows and community events. Pai is recognized as a powerful teacher, dancer, and mentor within the Chitresh Das Institute, committed to upholding Pandit Chitresh Das's legacy. She is passionate about introducing Kathak to new students, helping them discover the joy of dance, and connecting them to their cultural roots, laying a strong foundation for future Kathak dancers. She is known for her gentle, fun, yet firm teaching approach. Her dedication extends to her family, as her two daughters, Ritika and Shruti, are both alumni of the Chitresh Das Youth Company. Shruti Pai has further advanced her dance journey and is currently a member of CDI's professional dance company, Chitresh Das Dance. Anita Pai expresses gratitude for Pandit Das's influence as a role model in her daughters' lives and believes that the CDI staff will continue his teaching legacy with passion and dedication.
