Aruna Bhargavi is a dedicated practitioner, performer, and teacher of Bharatanatyam with over 30 years of experience. Her extensive training includes mentorship under the esteemed Smt. Ramaa Venugopalan, founder of Lakshmi Kalaalayam in Bangalore. She furthered her academic understanding of dance by earning a Master's degree in Fine Arts, specializing in Natya Shastra, history, and theory of Art dance, under the guidance of Natya Kala Acharya Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam. Recognized for her talent, Aruna Bhargavi is a graded artist of Doordarshan and a recipient of the CCRT scholarship for young Artists in the field of Dance from the Central Government of India. Her performance career is marked by numerous national and international appearances, both as a soloist and as a principal dancer in Lakshmi Kalaalayam's productions. She was a principal dancer in "Thari — the Loom," a production by internationally acclaimed dancer-choreographer Padmashree Malavika Sarukkai. Additionally, she has collaborated with noted dancer Smt. Anuradha Venkatraman on projects like "Unearthed Stories" and "6 feet - land and us," and was a principal dancer in "Fluid Space" and "AFFA," choreographed by Mr. Ranjan Mullaratt and Smt. Padmini Ravi, respectively. She continues to perform, currently touring "Iti Margam," a duet production with Lakshmi Kalaalayam, and "Aakhyana," a Guru-Sishya paramapara duet with her teacher. Aruna Bhargavi is the founder of Kala Kalpakshetra in Bengaluru, an institution where she imparts training in both Yoga and Bharatanatyam. Through Kala Kalpakshetra, she also curates "Anveshanam," a monthly collaborative series that provides an interactive platform for various artists and art forms.
