🪔 About
Babli Ramachandran is an inspiring Indian Bharatanatyam dancer, yoga teacher, and swimmer, widely recognized for her achievements as an individual with Down Syndrome. Born with Down Syndrome, she has defied societal expectations and emerged as a powerful advocate for neurodiversity. Babli began her Bharatanatyam training and performed her arangetram, or debut performance, at the age of 23, alongside trained dancers from the prestigious Kalakshetra academy. Her guru and inspiration in dance is Ms. Ambika Kameshwaran. Beyond dance, Babli is a trained yoga teacher, having previously conducted classes at Mathru Mandir, a center in Chennai that provides rehabilitation, support, and therapy for people with Down Syndrome. She has also achieved success as a special athlete, winning medals at national para swimming championships. Her mother, Dr. Surekha Ramachandran, founded Mathru Mandir and the Down Syndrome Federation of India, inspired by Babli's journey. Babli's ability to express emotions like pain, joy, anger, and love through her Bharatanatyam performances has been particularly noted. She continues to be an active participant in the arts and an advocate, inspiring many to embrace their uniqueness. Awards & Honours: Online award from Rasa dance academy.
