Baishali Kolay Bhuniya is an accomplished Indian classical Odissi dancer, recognized for her exceptional talent and expressive performances. She began her dance training at the tender age of two and a half under Smt. Paravati Samajpati, making her debut performance at the age of three. Her rigorous training continued under the tutelage of the renowned Odissi exponent Smt. Aloka Kanungo, from whom she received her Sangeet Kriya Visharad with distinction from Saurabh, Dance and Music Academy. Baishali Kolay Bhuniya has also participated in workshops conducted by the esteemed maestro Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra. Throughout her career, Baishali Kolay Bhuniya has been a regular artiste at Calcutta Doordarshan Kendra since childhood and has performed in lead roles in dance dramas by Saurabh, Dance and Music Academy. Her noteworthy performances include appearances at prestigious events such as the Konark Dance Festival, Puri Beach Festival, Uday Sankar Festival, and the Nehru Centre in London, as well as the BBC. A review in The Telegraph in 1990 highlighted her competent execution of Mahana pallavi and abhinaya, noting her extremely expressive eyes. She was also part of Guru Aloka Kanungo's repertory for the 'Nritya Vilas' performance at 'Nrityanjali 2' by Shinjan Nrityalaya. Her dedication and skill have earned her significant recognition, including the Junior National Scholarship from the Centre of Cultural Resources and Training, New Delhi, and the Senior National Scholarship from the Ministry of Human Resources, New Delhi. She has also received first prizes from the Paschim Banga Rajya Sangeet Academy and the Nehru Talent Search Contest, and a prize from the Yuva Festival.
