Bristi Rekha Mahanta, born and raised in Guwahati in 1991, is a young and emerging exponent of Sattriya, a classical Indian dance form. She began her training at a young age, with her father serving as her first guru. Mahanta pursued a Bachelor's degree in Sattriya concurrently with her high school education. Her further guidance came from notable figures in the Sattriya tradition, including Sri Naren Chandra Barua, Padma Shri Awardee Shri Jatin Goswami, and the late Dr. Jagganath Mahanta. As a budding artist, Bristi Rekha Mahanta has performed in numerous solo and group presentations at national-level festivals across India. She is recognized as a graded artist of Doordarshan Kendra, Guwahati. Mahanta also leads the 'Chandamukha Sattriya Academy', an institution dedicated to training in Sattriya, which was founded by her late father. She received the 'Young Artist Scholarship' from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, between 2011 and 2013. Mahanta expresses a deep spiritual connection with Sattriya, particularly after the birth of her son and the passing of her father in 2019, viewing the dance as a medium to connect with her father.
