🪔 About

Dr. Shrividya Muralidhar is a distinguished Indian classical dancer, performer, and researcher, primarily known for her expertise in Bharatanatyam. She holds a PhD in Bharatanatyam and serves as the Artistic Director of Sourabha Kala Parishath in Mangalore, India, a role she has held for over three decades, since approximately 1991. Dr. Muralidhar is recognized as the last disciple of the late Natyacharya K. Muralidhar Rao, a revered figure in Indian classical dance. Her guru, K. Muralidhar Rao, was a versatile artist who also trained in Kathakali under Rajan Ayer and learned the Pandanallur style of Bharatanatyam from gurus Rajaratnam Pillai and Chokalingam Pillai. He was known for his unique choreographies and his philosophy of creating dancers who were creators themselves. Dr. Shrividya Muralidhar continues this legacy, focusing on rigorous and disciplined training for her students. Her dedication to the art form extends to dance research, reflecting her academic background. She is a prominent guru whose guidance has led students to achieve significant milestones in the field of Bharatanatyam.
