Guru Shri Kohinoor Sen Barat is a globally renowned Indian classical dance mentor, choreographer, teacher, and performer, recognized as a pioneer in Creative Dance. Based primarily in Kolkata, India, he has made significant contributions to the propagation of Bharatanatyam and Indian Creative Dance. He is the visionary founder and director of two prominent institutions: the Shinjan Institute of Bharatanatyam and Creative Dance, established in 1987, and the Kohinoor Dance Academy. Additionally, he serves as the Principal Consultant and Mentor at the Kaleidoscope Dance Academy, an institution that focuses on Indian Creative Dance and Bharatanatyam. Throughout his illustrious career, Guru Shri Kohinoor Sen Barat has been honored with several prestigious accolades. He received the Uday Shankar Award in 1996, acknowledging his significant contributions to the field of dance. He was also recognized as the best choreographer at the International AIDS Festival of Dance held in Geneva.
