Gyanendra Dutt Bajpayi is a distinguished Bharatanatyam performer and educator, traditionally trained in the Tanjore Style of Bharatanatyam. He received his foundational training under the tutelage of Padmabhushan Guru Saroja Vaidyanathan. Bajpayi furthered his education by completing "Nritya Kovid," an eight-year diploma in Bharatanatyam, with merit from Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya, Khairagarh. His maiden performance, known as "Arangetram," took place at the Triveni Chamber Theatre in New Delhi in 1993. Bajpayi is recognized as a Graded Artist by Delhi Doordarshan Kendra, and his classical dance performances have been broadcast on numerous television channels, including Doordarshan, Star Plus, Aaj Tak, Sun TV, Raj TV, ETV, Fuji-8 TV, Nihon TV, and NHK. Notably, the Japanese TV channel NHK featured a special program of Bharatanatyam dance lessons conducted by him. Throughout his career, Bajpayi has performed at various national-level festivals, such as the Konark Music & Dance Festival, All India Sanskrit Conference, Lucknow Mahotsav, Ruby Festival of Ganesa Natyalaya, National Dance Festival, National Seminar & Dance Festival, and Guru Saranam Dance festival. He also participated in the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi in 2010. A dedicated educator, Gyanendra Dutt Bajpayi has been serving as a Lecturer-Bharatanatyam at Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya in Lucknow, India, since June 2005, contributing to the training of the next generation of dancers. His contributions to the field of dance have been acknowledged with several accolades, including a National Scholarship from the Government of India, the Gino-Shou by World Dance Festival in 2007, the Printania Award in 2009, the Rabindranath Tagore Award in 2019, the Yuva Natya Kalacharya in 2019, and the Guru Ratna Award in 2022.
