Irengbam Nalini Devi, born on February 1, 1958, in Imphal, Manipur, India, is a distinguished exponent of the Manipuri classical dance tradition. Her extensive training began as a student of the first batch at the Manipur Dance College, which was later renamed the Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy. She received comprehensive instruction from several renowned gurus, including Lourembam Amuyaima Singh, Maisnam Amubi Singh, Haobam Tomba Singh, R.K. Kebisana (Sanajaoba) Singh, and Haobam Nganbi Devi. Nalini Devi holds a Visharad in Manipuri Dance and a Nritachariya Diploma, further solidifying her academic and practical mastery of the art form. She also possesses a Post-graduate Diploma in Raas and Lai Haraoba. Her career at the Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy evolved from a performing artist to a revered Guru in the Raas Department. Demonstrating her commitment to perpetuating the dance form, she established the Guru Irengbam Nalini Devi Dance, Music Arts and Culture Academy in Imphal. Beyond her performance and teaching, Irengbam Nalini Devi is also a respected author, contributing significantly to the academic resources of Manipuri dance. Her publications, which serve as essential references, include "Manipur Ras Kunjaras," "Manipur Ras Maharas," "Chali Pareng," and "Bhangi Achouba Punglon." Her dedication and contributions have earned her numerous accolades throughout her career.
