Isha Sharvani is a highly regarded Indian contemporary dancer and actress, known for her stylistic Indian contemporary and aerial dance performances. Born on September 29, 1984, in Gujarat, India, she is the eldest daughter of renowned danseuse Daksha Sheth and Australian musician Dev Issaro. Isha began her dance journey at the age of eight under the guidance of her mother, Daksha Sheth. She received formal training from the age of thirteen at her mother's dance school, the Academy for Art Research, Training and Innovation (AARTI), founded by her parents in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Her training encompasses a diverse range of movement traditions, including Kathak, Kalaripayattu, Malkhamb, Mayurbhanj Chhau, yoga, and aerial ring techniques. Sharvani has toured internationally from the age of twelve, performing in over 3000 stage shows across more than 25 countries, including prestigious events like the Holland Dance Festival, Edinburgh International Festival, and Perth International Arts Festival. For over two decades, she has been the principal dancer of The Daksha Sheth Dance Company. Her work is deeply rooted in Indian traditional dance and spiritual disciplines, which she fuses with contemporary dance, circus, and visceral storytelling to create a unique cross-cultural art form. In 2015, Isha Sharvani moved to Perth, Western Australia, and has since collaborated with various dance companies. She is currently developing her first independent choreographic endeavor, "ASCENT," and is also involved in "KiN," a dance work that draws from ancient Indian practices like Kathak and Mallakhamb, reflecting her family's artistic legacy.
