Jyothsna Akilan is an Indian classical Bharatanatyam dancer and an aspiring arts manager. She is a disciple of Guru Anitha Guha. Akilan is a recipient of a Cultural Scholarship from the Ministry of Culture, India. She performed a Bharatanatyam recital under the aegis of Natyarangam, the dance wing of Narada Gana Sabha, Chennai, on November 19, 2016. At the time of this performance, she was noted to be 14 years old. Her recital included a Shanmuga Kouthuvam, Maharaja Swathi Thirunal's "Bhavayami Raghuramam" depicting the Ramayana, and Muthuswamy Dikshitar's "Kancha dalayathakshi". Critics praised her precise execution of jathis and delightful abhinaya. Beyond her performances, Akilan is also involved in research, having analyzed key dichotomies in the practice of Carnatic fusion in Chennai. She has also gained experience in arts management, working with organizations such as COCO Public Relations, Flint Culture Asia, and ArtSpire to develop and execute communication strategies for artists and arts organizations.
