🪔 About

K. Sarveshan is a prominent South African-born Tamil Bharatanatyam performer, choreographer, and teacher, currently based in Tamil Nadu, India. His artistic journey began at the age of three in Cape Town, South Africa, where he received foundational training in various dance forms, including Bharatanatyam, Indian folk dances, African dance, Flamenco, and contemporary dance, under Savitri Naidoo at the Vadhini Indian Arts Academy from 1996 to 2006. Following his schooling, Sarveshan moved to Chennai, India, to pursue advanced training in Bharatanatyam under the esteemed Padma Bhushan Awardees, Gurus Shanta and V.P. Dhananjayan, at Bharata Kalanjali. Between 2012 and 2016, he received advanced mentorship from the Dhananjayans and was subsequently invited to join Bharata Kalanjali's teaching faculty and performance ensemble. Sarveshan's distinct style is deeply influenced by his teachers and explores the complexities of his diasporic cultural heritage. He has also performed with renowned artists and companies, including Leela Samson's Spanda Dance Company from 2017 to 2019, touring across India and internationally. Recognized as one of the foremost male Bharatanatyam exponents of his generation, Sarveshan is committed to equity in the arts, prioritizing dancer well-being in his productions. Awards & Honours: Gutty Vasu Endowment Prize (2018), Best Dancer Award (2017).
