Kaavya Ravi Shankar is an aspiring Bharatanatyam dancer, currently an incoming Junior in high school, who has been immersed in the classical Indian dance form since the age of seven. Her foundational training in Bharatanatyam began under the guidance of Guru Smt. Surabhi Bharadwaj, associated with the Siddhi Dance Academy in Dublin, California. This initial period of instruction laid the groundwork for her understanding of the intricate movements, expressions, and rhythmic patterns inherent in Bharatanatyam. As she progressed in her artistic journey, Kaavya advanced her learning, now continuing her intensive training under the mentorship of Guru Smt. Meenakshi Ganesan, a testament to her dedication to mastering the art form. Kaavya's commitment to excellence in Bharatanatyam is underscored by her achievements in the IndianRaga Certification program, a recognized platform for evaluating proficiency in Indian classical dance. She earned a Distinction in Level 1 of the Bharatanatyam Dance certification in April 2020, demonstrating her early grasp of fundamental techniques and artistic presentation. Building upon this success, she further achieved a Distinction in Level 3 of the IndianRaga Certification for Bharatanatyam Dance in April 2021. These certifications reflect her consistent practice, deep engagement with the art form, and ability to meet high standards of performance and understanding. Her burgeoning performance career includes a notable Bharatanatyam solo presentation at the Sac Valley Margazhi in January 2026, where she showcased her developing artistry. Furthermore, in March 2026, Kaavya participated in a "Junior || Finale Round" performance alongside her advanced guru, Smt. Meenakshi Ganesan, an experience that contributes to her growth as a performer and offers opportunities for collaborative artistic expression. Based in Pleasanton, California, USA, Kaavya Ravi Shankar is actively contributing to the vibrant landscape of Indian classical dance, embodying the dedication and promise of a new generation of Bharatanatyam artists.
