🪔 About

Kabita Mohanty is an accomplished Indian classical Odissi dancer hailing from the eastern Indian state of Odisha. Her journey in Odissi began at the tender age of six, laying the foundation for a career spanning over two and a half decades. She pursued an extensive formal education in classical dance, completing an eight-year integrated course and earning a Nrutya Bhusan Diploma in Odissi from Khairagarh University of Madhyapradesh. Furthering her academic credentials, she also holds a degree in Odissi from Chandigarh University. Mohanty's artistic development was shaped by training under several eminent gurus, including Shri Raghunath Dutta, Guru Mayadhara Raut, the legendary proponent of Odissi Late Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra, Guru Smt. Kumkum Mohanty, Guru Smt. Abha Nalini Kumar, and Guru Smt. Kasturi Pattnaik. Beyond her performance career, Kabita Mohanty is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Indian classical arts. She founded the "Nrityabhinaya" Academy of Art, Culture and Music, an institution envisioned to popularize India's rich cultural heritage and offer a medium of expression, particularly to youth and women. The academy conducts workshops, camps, and festivals focused on dance and music, aiming for the comprehensive development of its students. Mohanty is also a full-time dance teacher at the prestigious D.A.V Public School in Gurugram (Gurgaon), Haryana, where her choreography in Odissi and folk dance forms has earned accolades for the school and helped students manage academic stress. Her diverse educational background also includes degrees in Library Science and Law (LLB). As a performer, Kabita Mohanty has graced numerous stages, with over 500 live performances at national and international cultural festivals. Her appearances include prominent events such as the Taj Festival Agra, Thanjavaur Dance Festival, Puri Beach Festival, Mukteshwar Festival, Konark Festival, Mandu Festival, Khajurao Festival, Hampi Festival, Shravanabelagola Festival, ICCR Program in Sri Lanka, Chattisgarh Rajya Utsava, Ardh Kumbh Mela, Baneshwar Festival, Chakradhar Festival, Odisha Parba, and the Uttaradhikar Series.
