Kavita Murari is a dedicated Bharatanatyam performing artiste, dance teacher, and the Artistic Director of Soundarya Natya Kalalaya Calgary. Her profound journey into this divine classical art form commenced at the tender age of five. With a commitment spanning 25 years, she has diligently pursued and mastered this intricate classical art. Kavita continues to refine her artistry and deepen her understanding under the esteemed guidance of Guru Smt. Padmini Radhakrishnan, the visionary founder of Soundarya Natya Kalalaya, Mumbai, established in 1980. Throughout her illustrious career, Kavita Murari has amassed a significant portfolio of performances, boasting over 100 stage appearances in various parts of India and internationally. Her versatility and dedication to Bharatanatyam are evident in her participation in numerous dance productions, having featured in more than twenty different presentations of the classical form. Prior to her leadership role in Calgary, Kavita Murari made substantial contributions to the dance landscape in Mumbai. She served as an assistant teacher at SNKF, Mumbai, and held the position of an official faculty member for Bharatanatyam dance at Sanskriti, IIT Mumbai. Currently, she stands as a torch-bearer of the premier Soundarya Natya Kalalaya institution in Calgary, Canada. The Calgary branch, under her artistic direction, is dedicated to upholding the core vision of teaching Bharatanatyam in its purest form, emphasizing traditional values, uncompromising quality, and artistic perfection. Additionally, she imparts her knowledge and expertise by teaching Bharatanatyam at the Sanatan Hindu Cultural Society in Calgary. The parent institution, Soundarya Natya Kalalaya, Mumbai, founded by her guru, is a highly respected organization that has orchestrated over 3500 stage performances globally and maintains a presence across nine locations in India and abroad. Under Smt. Padmini Radhakrishnan's mentorship, the institution has proudly presented approximately 120 Arangetrams, marking the debut performances of its accomplished students.
