Minhaz Khan is an accomplished Indian classical Kathak dancer and guru, known for his extensive training across multiple gharanas. Hailing from Pune, India, he was born into a traditional musical family and began his Kathak journey at the tender age of three under the guidance of Shri Zafar Mulla Khan. By age five, he was formally initiated into Kathak by his father, Guru Mulla Jafar Khan, an exponent of the Banaras Gharana. Khan further enriched his understanding of the art form by learning from Vidushi Aditi Mangaldas, which provided him with roots in the Lucknow Gharana. His rigorous training continued at the prestigious Kathak Kendra, New Delhi, where he studied under Guru Pt. Rajendra Kumar Gangani, a renowned figure of the Jaipur Gharana. Throughout his career, Minhaz Khan has been a prominent performer and educator. He was a repertory member of the National Institute of Kathak Dance, Kathak Kendra, New Delhi, and a senior repertory member of the Aditi Mangaldas Dance Company - The Drishtikon Dance Foundation for many years. His performance career has taken him across India, Southeast Asia, and internationally, with notable appearances at the Queen Elizabeth Hall for the Alchemy Festival in London in both 2014 and 2015, and the Emirates Palace for the Abu Dhabi Classics in 2015. He has also performed at events such as the Vande Maataram Festival at Kathak Kendra in Delhi in 2021. Khan has had the privilege of collaborating with eminent Kathak exponents, including Smt. Geetanjali Lal and Pt Birju Maharaj. He is recognized as a Doordarshan B graded artist and has been a scholarship recipient from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. Currently, Guru Minhaz Khan is based in Singapore, where he joined the Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society (SIFAS) as a Guru in September 2022, continuing his legacy of teaching and promoting Kathak.
