Nandini Mehta is an accomplished Indian classical dancer, proficient in both Kathak and Bharatanatyam. Her initial training in Bharatanatyam was under the tutelage of renowned gurus Srimati Chandrabhaga Devi, Prof. US Krishna Rao, Guru Smt. Narmada, and Guru Smt. Bhanumati. Her passion for dance led her to pursue Kathak, where she trained under Guru Smt. Maya Rao and Smt. Chitra Venugopal at the NATYA Institute of Kathak and Choreography (NIKC) in Bangalore. She further honed her Kathak skills with Maulik Shah and Ishira Parikh in Ahmedabad. Mehta holds a degree in Choreography from NIKC. She also received formal training in Carnatic music from her mother, Smt. Manorama Mehta, and is well-versed in various Indian folk forms. Mehta is the co-founder and director of NADAM (Narthan Academy for Dance and Music), an institution based in Bangalore, India. The dance school was set up in 1994, and the organization was formally launched in 1999, co-founded with K. Murali Mohan. NADAM aims to propagate Indian classical dance forms and music, offering intensive training in Kathak, Bharatanatyam, and classical music to aspiring students from India and abroad. The academy also organizes workshops and an annual festival, Kala Nadam, which was launched in 2000 and features national and international artists. As a performer, Nandini Mehta has performed extensively across India, the US, France, Switzerland, and the Middle East. She is an A-grade artist of Doordarshan and was a recipient of a central government fellowship in Kathak for the years 2000-2002. She has also received Attendance awards in the past. Beyond performing and teaching, Mehta is also a soft skill trainer and a French lecturer in Bangalore colleges. She and Murali Mohan have trained numerous students, many of whom have gone on to establish their own institutions, continuing NADAM's tradition and values.
