Nayanika Sengupta is an accomplished Odissi dancer, who has received rigorous and extensive training in the classical form for over two decades. She has been groomed under the watchful eyes of her mother, the esteemed Odissi exponent Debamitra Sengupta, who is a 'TOP Grade' Doordarshan Artist and an empanelled artist under the ICCR and Ministry of Culture, Government of India. Nayanika is recognized as a promising performer, having made her presence felt as a striking artist. Her career involves extensive performances alongside her mother, participating in prestigious programs and festivals both within India and internationally. She is a senior performer associated with the Kolkata Mayur Lalit Dance Academy, an institution founded and led by her mother, Debamitra Sengupta. Nayanika has been featured in significant dance productions, including "MAHISASHURMARDINI" at Rabindra Sadan, presented by Debamitra Sengupta & Kolkata Mayur Lalit Dance Academy, where she performed as a senior artist. She has also shared the stage with her mother in various performances, such as a recent event at the ICCR Auditorium in Kolkata, showcasing their mother-daughter duo. Beyond her profound dedication to Odissi dance, Nayanika Sengupta also demonstrates a strong commitment to academic pursuits. She holds a Post Graduation in Biotechnology from Calcutta University, securing a First Class First position, and is currently undertaking a PhD in Molecular Biophysics at the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore. Her artistic journey reflects a harmonious blend of traditional classical dance training and advanced scientific research, marking her as a notable emerging artist in the field of Indian classical dance.
