🪔 About
Pallavi Anand is an accomplished Bharatanatyam dancer whose journey in Indian classical dance began at the age of five under the tutelage of her mother, Smt. Shalini Shivashankar, the Director of Upahaar School of Dance in London. She completed her arangetram in 2008 in Bangalore, India. Her foundational training also included guidance from Kalakshetra alumni Ranjini Ganesan and Lekha Sasi in Bangalore and Bahrain, respectively. Anand further honed her skills in Chennai at the Bharata Kalanjali School of Natya, founded by the renowned Natyachaaryas, the Dhananjayans. She also received specialized training in abhinaya from Smt. Bragha Bessell. Her artistic development has been shaped by other prominent dancers and choreographers, including Sri. A Lakshmanaswamy, Smt. Divya Shiva Sundar, and Smt. Seeta Patel. Since 2020, she has continued to refine her artistry under the mentorship of Sri. Mavin Khoo. Beyond Bharatanatyam, Pallavi Anand has briefly explored Mohiniattam and undertaken training in Mridangam and Nattuvangam, enhancing her understanding of rhythm and musicality in dance. She has presented numerous solo, duet, and group recitals across the UK, India, and internationally in locations such as Canada, Latvia, and Dubai. Her international career includes touring globally as a principal dancer with the Akram Khan Company's productions 'Outwitting the Devil' and 'Thikra – Night of Remembering'. Anand is also a member of the teaching faculty at the Upahaar School of Dance in London. She holds a BA in Fashion Design from Nottingham Trent University but chose to dedicate herself full-time to dance. Awards & Honours: Akademi's YUVA 2016 (South Asian Youth Dance Competition) (2016), Nritya Ratna from Trinity Arts Festival, Chennai, Nritya Priyadarshini from Natyapriya, Bangalore.
