Paulomi Pandit is an accomplished Indian classical dancer specializing in Bharatanatyam, and a prominent figure in promoting Indian classical and folk dances internationally. Her journey in dance began in Ahmedabad, India, where she started Bharatanatyam lessons at the Darpana Academy in third standard, later transferring to the Nrithya Bharati institute. She performed her Bharatanatyam arangetram at the age of fourteen, under the tutelage of Elakshi Takhore. Concurrently, she also pursued folk dancing at the Shree Payal Institute of Folk Dances. After completing her degree in microbiology from Gujarat University, Pandit joined the esteemed Kalakshetra Foundation in Chennai in 1991, where she honed her Bharatanatyam skills. During her post-graduate studies at Kalakshetra, she received a Central Government scholarship and was recognized as the best outgoing student in 1998. Her principal instructor at Kalakshetra was Srimati Krishnaveni Lakshmanan, and she performed significant roles in Kalakshetra productions such as Purandaradasa, Kurmavataram, and Shabari Moksham. In 1998, Paulomi Pandit returned to Ahmedabad and founded the Rangashree School of Fine Arts, an institution dedicated to preserving and promoting Indian classical and folk dances. She had previously established the Tahuko folk dance troupe in 1987, which later became part of Rangashree. In 2002, she moved to California, USA, and established Rangashree Dances of India, continuing her mission of offering authentic performances and educational programs. She has trained over 100 students in India and over forty in the U.S., and her institutions have facilitated international tours and workshops. Awards & Honours: Young Achiever Award (2001).
