🪔 About

Pritha Ratnam is an Indian classical dancer, primarily known for her performances in Bharatanatyam. She is the sister of the renowned dancer and choreographer, Anita Ratnam. Pritha received her early training in Bharatanatyam under guru Rajee Narayan. Her mother, Leela Ratnam, played a significant role in ensuring both Pritha and Anita received dance training. While she danced from a young age, Pritha was described as a "reluctant dancer" for a period, rediscovering her passion for dance in the mid-1980s. She has frequently collaborated and performed with her sister, Anita Ratnam. Notable joint performances include "Swarna Kannan - The Golden One" in 2012, a Bharatanatyam tribute to their grand-niece Smt. Ambujam Krishna. In the same year, the sisters reunited on stage for "Andal Andal," an hour-long Bharatanatyam performance dedicated to their late mother, Leela Ratnam. This performance explored the essence of the female saint poet Andal, with Pritha portraying the outer, obedient, calm, and dutiful aspects of Andal. Beyond her dance career, Pritha Ratnam also holds a corporate position as the Joint Managing Director of Sundaram Industries Ltd in Chennai.
