Punita Sharma is a distinguished Indian classical Kathak dancer, choreographer, and guru, known for blending modernity with tradition in her performances. She received her Master's degree from the esteemed Kathak Kendra, New Delhi, and a Praveen from Prayag Sangit Samiti, Allahabad, where she was awarded a gold medal. Sharma is a disciple of Pt. Jai Kishan Maharaj of the Lucknow Gharana and Mridul Chandra Mishra of the Banaras Gharana. She has dedicated herself to Kathak for over two decades, performing at national and international forums in countries like China and the USA. Punita Sharma is also a prolific choreographer, having created ballets on mythological and social issues, including a re-choreographed production of 'Krishna Leela'. She began her choreographic work as early as 2016, even while still a student. She is the General Secretary of Rag Virag Education & Culture Society, a non-profit organization founded in 2002, and serves as the Principal Centre Superintendent & Guru of the Rag Virag Repertory group, which operates under a grant-in-aid scheme from the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India. As an ICCR-empanelled artist, she conducts lecture-demonstrations and workshops globally.
