Guru Ramkrishna Talukdar, born in 1963 in Bamakhata, Barpeta district, Assam, is a distinguished figure in Indian classical dance, renowned for his contributions to Sattriya and Kathak. He received his initial training in Sattriya dance under the Guru Sishya Parampara for over 25 years from eminent gurus such as Ananda Mohan Bhagabati, late Rosewar Saikia Barbayan, Padmashree Jatin Goswami, and Padmashri Ghana Kanta Borbayan. He is recognized as the first formal graduate degree holder in Sattriya dance and music in Assam, holding a B. Music degree from Guwahati University, a Nritya Visharad from B.S.V. Lucknow, an M. Music and Nrityalankar Diploma from ABGMV Mandal, Mumbai, and a Master's Degree from IKS University, Madhya Pradesh. He also trained in Kathak under Guru Sri Surendranath Saikia in Lucknow and holds an M. Mus in Kathak from Gandharva Mahavidyalay, Indore. Talukdar's efforts were instrumental in the scientific study of Sattriya dance, which contributed to its official recognition as a classical dance form by the Indian government in 2000. He has showcased Sattriya dance globally for over four decades and is the first "A" Grade Artist in Sattriya dance for Doordarshan, New Delhi. He founded Nartan Kala Niketan, an institution dedicated to teaching and promoting these dance forms, and has mentored numerous students, including international dancers. He is also the author of 'Nrity Kala Darpan', a prescribed textbook for the Secondary Education Board of Assam, and has served on various cultural committees, including the Expert Committee for Sattriya dance under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. Ambedkar National Fellowship Award (2005), Gold medal for best tableau of the year (1986), NE TV people's choice award (2006), Asom Gaurav, Sangeet Jyoti Award, Nritya Ratna, Kala Gaurav, Nrityanjali Award.
