🪔 About

Rumi Talukdar is an eminent Indian classical dancer, primarily recognized for her contributions to Sattriya dance, one of India's classical dance forms originating from Assam. She is an empanelled Sattriya artist with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), an accreditation that has facilitated her performances across the globe. Rumi Talukdar frequently shares the stage with her husband, Guru Ramkrishna Talukdar, who is a distinguished Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee and a renowned exponent of both Sattriya and Kathak dance. Together, they have presented various Sattriya productions, including devotional pieces like "Vishnu Vandana" and dramatic interpretations such as "Draupadi Vastraharan". Beyond her performance career, Rumi Talukdar is also dedicated to the propagation and teaching of Indian classical dance. She is an instructor at Nartan Kala Niketan, an academy located in Guwahati, where she imparts her knowledge and expertise in Sattriya dance. Her commitment to the art form extends to her family, as her daughters are also pursuing Sattriya dance and have been recipients of national-level scholarships.
